چکیده مقاله
Numerous studies revealed that the seeds of Moringa oleifera show effecting coagulative
characteristics that may be taken advantage of in water treatment processes, especially to eliminate or
reduce turbidity. In this study at the first various parts of the Moringa oleifera fruits and different
sources of seeds were investigated and protein analysis test have done for each sources. On the other
hand, study results reveal that seeds collected from different sources vary in efficiency for turbidity
removal. But next to this and based on the above mentioned findings, this study compared two
different methods of extraction for Moringa's active ingredient in the terms of coagulation activity.
NaCl and distilled water extraction of Moringa oleifera seeds appeared that salt extraction was much
better than distilled water extraction. The optimum dosage of shelled Moringa oleifera seeds extract by
NaCl was almost same to that of alum as a conventional chemical coagulant. In conclusion, the
findings of this study agree well with the findings of earlier studies on the potential use of Moringa
oleifera as a natural coagulant, particularly as an attractive alternative to chemical and synthetic
coagulants.
